With Edward gone, there is not much to look forward to in New Moon. I am continuing to mourn. In addition to mourning however, I am also bitter. Especially bitter towards “those” who try to take Edward’s place. Unsuccessfully. I am developing a strong hatred for Jacob. He is so abusive!!!! I can’t stand the way he tries to take advantage of the situation selfishly, for his own benefit. Edward is Edward, Jacob, cannot, should not DARE to take his place! What nerve!
If Jacob truly loves Bella, he will understand and not be such an abusive jerk. It is evident that Bella loves Edward, and he is NOT in this picture. Who is he anyway?
I understand that Bella needs to talk to someone, needs to pull herself out of her massive depression, but I think she goes overboard when taking comfort of Jacob’s presence. This is ridiculous.
I only wish Edward would never have left in the first place, then Jacob would never have had the nerve to mess with a vampire’s girl. I can’t wait for Edward to come back and beat his butt to pieces. Only, I completely understand the reason behind Edward’s departure. And I admire him for it. He is not only physically strong (and capable of splitting Jacob’s backbone in half) but he is also intellectually strong. To draw himself away from Bella BECAUSE of her is truly honorable. That takes some will power. If only Jacob were that strong and keep away from Bella because of her own benefit.
Something I really enjoy now that Edward is gone however is Bella’s attitude. I know she is depressed and in a dangerous emotional state. But I LIKE it! This is the way she should have been. She needed to push for what she wanted, and now, she is. She is pushing and pushing it hard. Now she is strong, and just as strong as Edward. Now let’s cross our fingers for these two strong lovers to reunite!!!

New Moon Post 3

This can’t be possible! How much worse can things get? Edward LEFT! HOW? HOW? HOW? I can’t imagine being any more miserable! Edward gone, Bella lonely…
I honestly cannot stand reading this book. I have decided to finish it in some way, but only after vowing never to pick the book up again.
Just after Edward left and Bella was found in the forest, I put the book down, experiencing a rather major breakdown. I could NOT believe it! She just cut her finger! That’s no reason to leave! But, on the other hand, however reluctant I may be, I have to admit that Edward did an admirable deed. Not just anyone can quench his or her deepest desires for the best. I really admire Edward, and I can’t bring myself to hate him. I can only direct all my anger, sorrow, misery, helplessness and tears (yes, tears) towards their situation. None is at fault; no one can control their circumstances. This is just the way things work, and it is over the heads of me, you, Bella, Edward, and I bet even the most powerful vampires. All we can do is read on and mope.
Well, actually, I did enough of that. I vowed never, ever, EVER in my life to pick up the book again, to just dwell in my own miserable bubble that Edward and Bella were never meant to be. And I continued for days. Sulking over the misery and pain of the book. (I went overboard) I actually wore black the next day to school and I never ever wear black, just on funerals. I was depressed beyond imagination. There was nothing any one could do with me. I didn’t answer emails; I didn’t go on face book, I barely ate and I wandered aimlessly around the house for a long time. I even called my friend and shared with her my vow never to read the book again. Of course she told me I was ridiculous and it was only a book. It was and is so much more for me!
And obviously, I did break my die-hard vow and continued reading, in hope of a better ending. Will Edward be back? I can only hope and read.

New Moon post 2
I have just begun reading New Moon, the second book in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I can’t really give away what is happening for fear of spoiling the book for someone who has not read the book. If this is the case, then I would definitely recommend reading them.
In the first 60 pages of the book, Bella has been cut and things are not going so well for the Cullens, more specifically Edward Cullen. Jasper is miserable because of his dangerous spasm, Alice, Emmet and Esme feel terrible for the accident and Edward is frighteningly angry. The reader gets the feeling that things are about to change between Edward and Bella after this incident. The last accident in the previous book, Twilight, was much worse and involved much more blood, bites, breaks and bruises yet the reader was not as anxious and worried for Edward and Bella’s relationship.
What really scared me as the reader was Edward’s major breakdown in the car when driving Bella back home. He pours out what seems like a lifetime of unsaid words battling to get out. Finally, he has it all out. However, this behavior is very strange and unexpected of Edward, and Bella knows it. Maybe this accident is more significant than what we think. If this has Edward wound up, Edward of all people, then things are not going too well. When Edward looses it, that’s a sign that danger is ahead. He had always controlled himself beyond human capabilities, and probably even Vampire capabilities, all of the sudden, he is distant and cold. And not only cold as in Vampire, but also cold as in insincere. The second kind of cold, Edward’s insincerity, was what gave me goose bumps, imagine what Bella felt like. Something is definitely going to go haywire in the following chapters. What I dread is reaching those dreadful chapters. Not knowing what will happen and fearing the worst is exactly Meyer’s intention though. She knows what she is doing and is doing it on purpose, hooking her reader and occupying their mind constantly with the thought of the next episode in the book.

I am going to read the second "Twilight" book titled "New Moon" by Stephanie Meyers. I am more excited than ever because I loved the first book and I have heard great things about the entire series. I have high expectations for the second book and I hope I won't be disappointed. The first set an incompetable precedent and I have confidence that the second book will be just as enticing, just as the one before. I will start as soon as I get the book in my hands. I can't wait!!!!

Finally! I just got a hold of the first book of the Twilight Series and I have just started it. So far, it has me hooked. I had not expected to get so involved in a teenage-vampire love story, but here I am! The writing is very simple, obviously to attract teenagers who don’t go for the big bait and just read for the story. However, it is not childish or even too simple. I think it has the right touch of description, but also gets to the point fairly quickly None of that Cormac McCarthy “He went and came back” deals. The story is very fast paced and keeps the reader interested. It is not that difficult to be entranced by the book and I found myself lost in it for quite longer than I expected. So far, the hostility between Edward and Belle has just heightened and I am, too m own surprise, more than eager to find out how things turn out. The characters are very interesting to me and I find learning about them not too difficult to follow.
However, I do wish that the plot was a bit more realistic, a bit better developed so as not to completely banish any thoughts of reality from it. I mean, what annoyed me most about what I have read so far, is that Belle meets a vampire at school. Maybe things could have happened a bit more differently.
But so far, I am hooked and I have definitely learned not to judge a book by its cover. Because one of them might be Twilight.

An article I found interesting regarding public opinion of Obama and McCain was called “Daily Presidential Tracking Poll”. I found it interesting how the two candidates were viewed by not only other parties, but their own as well. Overall, according to this article, the grand total of the vote percentages is in favor of Senator Barrock Obama. I was surprised to find however, that he did not win by much. Only one percent, with 51% of the vote in his favor. McCain claimed 46% of the vote. I was surprised to find this because I had thought that American voters had pretty solidly decided on Obama. The young generation, women, middle class, minority groups, especially African Americans. I would have thought they would have formed the majority of American voters that the upper-class, white, Christian and conservative citizens. But, this election is full of surprises and there is no knowing what will happen. We had our first woman candidate, our first African American candidate, and a Republican runner-up after the (very) debatable and controversial management of the office in the past 8 years. Ratings of voters for the candidates of their own parties also astonished me. Not as many Republicans favor McCain as the Republican nominee and not many Democrats are rooting for Obama. At least, not as much as I expected. However, this is an election full of surprises and I am very interested in knowing what America is in for for the next 4 years.

I, like all other Enriched English 10 students, am reading “All the Pretty Horses” By Cormac McCarthy. I have not gotten too far, just as far as the assignment over the weekend, page 29.
He definitely has a unique style of writing. Punctuation is the most evident element of his writing techniques. His tradition of not using quotations has not confused me too much yet. Except for a few parts. But it definitely is unique. His punctuation use is also limited and kept at the bare bare bare minimum. This makes the book more difficult to read, but screams “CORMAC MACCARTHY” so, there is a justified reason behind his method. Aside his punctuation though, he also has a different style of writing. At times, he goes on and off about things that seem so very unimportant. In fact, as I was reading, I actually read an example of this. At the end of page 5, McCarthy writes that the speaker rode out on his horse, and on the beginning of page 6, he rides back. I found the entire piece to be utterly disposable. There was absolutely no reason for that whole chink to waste paper and ink and time, however, McCarthy thought it was necessary for the completion and quality of the book. McCarthy and I apparently won’t agree on many things. But that’s probably why we are analyzing McCarthy’s writing and not mine, he obviously knows a thing or two more than me when it comes to writing.
